Public Meetings

On February 12th, 2026, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosted a public meeting for the M-14/I-96 reconstruction project in the city of Livonia and Plymouth Township at Plymouth Township Hall (9955 North Haggerty Road Plymouth, MI 48170) to discuss this year’s construction.

At this public meeting, attendees had the opportunity to share their comments directly with the project team, review project exhibits and learn more details about the project. Construction this year will include rebuilding the westbound lanes and bridge repairs from Sheldon Road to Newburgh Road.

On February 12, 2025, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) hosted a public meeting at Plymouth Township Hall (9955 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth, MI) to discuss the upcoming two-year M-14/I-96 rebuilding project in Livonia and Plymouth Township.

This year’s work, running from late February to late 2025, will focus on rebuilding the eastbound lanes from Sheldon Road to Newburgh Road, with westbound lanes scheduled for next year. Attendees, including community partners, city representatives, local businesses, and residents, can meet with project team members, review exhibits, and share feedback.

On April 24th, 2024, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) hosted a public meeting to discuss the upcoming M-14/I-96 rebuilding project in the city of Livonia and
Plymouth Township. This project includes road and bridge work from Sheldon Road to Newburgh Road. Work on this planned $139 million investment is anticipated to begin in May. See below for exhibits displaying project locations and types of work.

How will traffic be affected and mitigated during construction?

During construction, a minimum of one lane each direction will be maintained. In 2025, both eastbound and westbound M-14 traffic will be maintained on westbound proper while the eastbound side is under construction. In 2026, eastbound and westbound traffic will be placed on the newly reconstructed eastbound pavement in order to reconstruct the existing westbound lanes.

When will the project be completed?

The current schedule for the M-14 Reconstruction Project is from May 2024 through late 2026.

What improvements are being made?

The scope of this project includes roadway and ramp reconstruction, including the M-14/I-96/I-275 Interchange, bridge rehabilitation of 17 structures, drainage system improvements, freeway lighting replacement, new Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology and I-275 Metro Trail reconstruction from Edward Hines Dr. to I-275.

How will motorists be informed of travel impacts along the corridor?

Up to date travel information can be found on the project website as well as the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) MiDrive Interactive Map.

How are the repairs and improvements of M-14 being funded?

The project is funded through a combination of state and federal funding, including bond funding as a part of the Rebuilding Michigan Program.

Completed fall of 2025, a $257 million improvement project included roadway reconstruction and repairs to 56 bridges from Northline to 6 Mile Road as well as roadway and bridge repair from Will Carleton to Northline Road in Wayne County.
